Good afternoon. I’m looking into getting my daughter into horseback riding lessons. I was referred time your barn by Ann Elko. My daughter, Haddie is five years old and eager to start horseback riding. Her babysitter has horses so she has been around them some. I’m just trying to find somewhere safe for her take english lessons at. Looking at the pictures online I think this was my old 4-H advisors barn, Somerset Farm. Just looking to into options for lessons & pricing. I do understand that everything is in hold with Covid but I’m still looking into options.
    Thank you.

Hi, you will find Still Waters is a very safe place to get a youngster started riding. We have safe ponies for the kids to start on and in the beginning they will be led until they are strong and confident enough to ride on their own. At age 5 you would expect to start with 10-15 minutes lessons. As Haddie gains experience she will advance to trotting and then the lessons become longer. Eventually she would be ready for the full lesson which is an hour long but that usually takes some time. Besides just riding we also teach them about the horses, how to brush and tack them up, etc. We are also having a summer camp in June that she may want to come to for a day or two (or the whole thing is she’s really interested), at camp they learn how to do all the things around the barn as well as riding a few times a day. Please call Kathy at 440-474-PONY to find a time slot that works for you and Haddie.
