Still Waters Farm

When Kathy was just a toddler her sister Wendy started putting her up on “Babe” the family pony.  When Kathy was 6 years old Wendy took all her baby sitting money and bought a horse named “Lady”.  At that point Babe became Kathy’s very own pony.  When Kathy was 8 years old Wendy took her to the polo field to watch the Cleveland Grand Prix.  Kathy knew right then that she wanted to ride in the Cleveland Grand Prix someday.  She went home and started building jumps.  Wendy taught Kathy from a book she read about jumping.

When Kathy was 14 years old she became a working student for Carol Klima at Shakespeare Acres in Rootstown Ohio.  Carol was a great rider and teacher, but was an even better horse dealer.  At Shakespeare Acres Kathy got to ride hundreds of different sale horses.  Some were really good – some were really bad, but she learned something from each one.

When Kathy was 17 she started teaching at Brick Hill Farms in Eastlake Ohio.  She taught there for 21 years.  In 1996 she bought Still Waters Farm.  At Still Waters Kathy teaches lessons and trains horses.  She also takes people to horse shows and judges.  In 2000 she purchased “Paparazzi”, also known as “Pavi” and more recently, “Mr. Pooh”.  In 2003 Pavi made her dreams come true when she and he competed in the Cleveland Grand Prix.  Mr. Pooh is more than a very special horse to Kathy, he is also her very best friend.
